Osman Erkan pioneered the modern entertainment sector in the 1960s by establishing Turkey's first amusement park operation and manufacturing facility. He led the sector by implementing amusement park operations and manufacturing in many parts of Turkey. He built an amusement park and entertainment center on an 18-acre plot in Bakırköy, Istanbul, turning it into a popular attraction serving the public for 70 years. He represented Turkey internationally by participating in amusement park and entertainment fairs in Europe, making his name known throughout Turkey. In 1985, he initiated a large tea factory investment in Güneysu district of Rize, his hometown; however, due to his battle with cancer, he changed the fate of this project, using the land and costs to convert it into a girls' dormitory for religious students. Furthermore, Osman Erkan established partnerships with many large companies, collaborating with firms such as Ulusoy and Cevahir, making his name known to a wider audience. Following in his footsteps, his son, Mehmet Emir Erkan, founded Erkan Group Steel Pipe Stainless Metal company with the same determination and vision, under his leadership and guidance. Osman Erkan passed away on April 16, 1991.
